July 2014: Chicago, Illinois: Home

Though I don’t think I’ll count it as part of the overall project, I installed my very own piece at home, where I can observe the changes that happen as the piece weathers. I'm experimenting with a new aspect involving the manner in which the pieces deteriorate (something  I’m thinking of adding into future installations) as well as trying out a new, two-day installation method.

This small, old scrubby evergreen in a small space between our yard and our neighbors’ driveway is the only mature tree on the property. The ear is turned up towards the shady spot where we sit and talk on our deck / back porch.  I installed during absolutely optimal conditions: two lovely soft summer days with temperatures in the 75F range, no rain predicted for almost 24 hours after the final step. Over time, this piece will give me lots of information for future installations.

Below is what my nice neighbors see when they come to the fence.
