July - August 2013, Penland, North Carolina: Penland School of Crafts

In the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, I again based the color of the two remaining fungi from the Vermont / Haystack group on fungi that I had seen during my daily mountain walks.  At the Penland School of Crafts, I chose two locations on campus: so much creative activity to listen to there!

The first was high up in a tree between the Letterpress / Print studio and the Books and Paper studio where I was teaching, which also had the advantage of being located near the second floor Northlight auditorium, the hub for campus meetings, auctions and slide talks.

The second was below the Books and Paper and also the Drawing studios, overlooking the Pines dining hall and the beautiful open meadow at the heart of Penland.  The huge venerable tree already sported a number of eyes looking in all directions, so I decided to provide it with an ear.
